Slovenia Group Highlights
This adventure crosses through the Alps to the Adriatic Sea and three countries; Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy. The heart of the trip is Slovenia, which has always been at a crossroads. Historically populated (and ruled) by different nations including Romans, Germans and Slavs. All these people have left their influence on the culture and way of life.
In Italy, guests will explore off the beaten byways of Venice and get the chance to learn to row the famous Venetian gondolas. The dinner in Venice will be truly special with a visit to the Michelin starred and legendary Harry’s Bar (Cipriani’s).
Speaking of great culinary experiences, the groups exploration of Slovenian traditional local foods begins in Piran alongside local farmers and fisherman, culminating with a dinner prepared by Ana Ros, the best female chef in the world according to “The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants.” In Croatia, guests will spend the day in Istiria, hunting and eating truffles as they pedal from town to picturesque town along a deserted railway. Finally, in Goriska Brda they will visit a world class winery and meet their eccentric “wine genius” for a private tour and wine tasting.
Kobarid in the Soca valley is a historically significant place in Eastern Europe. It was home to WW I’s Isonzo front where 12 major battles were fought and 1.7 million soldiers died. After exploring the front, the group will head to the nearby Soca Valley where they will have their choice of a rafting, paragliding, SUPing, kayaking, or a zip-line adventure.
Given that Slovenia is a very small country and travel times are short, the group will make a stop in Lipizzaner where they will ride the majestic Lipzzaner Horses. They will also journey to the Karst Region of Slovenia for a private tour of the Postonja Cave. And no trip to Slovenia is complete without a visit to Liubljana, inhabited for almost 4000 years, it has been home to all the various conquerors of Slovenia.
Guests will arrive at Venice Airport which connects to most major European gateways and has direct flights from cities in the US including New York, Atlanta, and Philadelphia.
Guests will stay at a combination of locally owned boutique hotels that reflect local culture and luxury hotels in major cities.
